Sommermorgen
Reinhard Mey
Summer Morning
Through the open window, the day enters the room,
And morning light already floods the space.
I feel you next to me, still asleep,
And trying to hold onto your dream tightly.
How much I love it, safe next to you,
Still thinking about you and me,
How much I enjoy the bright summer mornings,
How much I love you.
I can hear more clearly now in front of the house
Voices, street noises, car doors.
The quiet moment has passed,
You stir, as if you feel it too,
And blink at me with a sleepy smile,
I wait for this look every morning.
How much I love feeling you wake up next to me,
How much I love you.
How quickly time passes later in the day,
Come close to me for a moment.
When will I say, if I don't say it now,
That I am happy with you.
Surrounded by your warmth, your advice,
By your tenderness, when will I say,
How good it is to live by your side,
How much I love you.
