Moleque Bom
Renato da Rocinha
Good Kid
Hey kid!
Born and raised in the hill with feet on the ground
Who sheltered samba in the heart from an early age
Who dreamed of shining with the ball
At his feet like every good Brazilian
But the passion for the sound
Of the cavaco, tantã, and pandeiro spoke louder
Hey kid!
Made the samba school
His natural habitat
Always listening on the old
Backyard record player
Samba from Almir Guineto
And master Aniceto, Marçal, and candeia
And the beautiful songs that were born
Under the tamarind tree
Who as a boy went out into the early morning
To know the two sides of this journey
Facing head-on
Even with the family
Because of his ideal
Confidently the boy followed his destiny
Living between good and evil
Many times without money for bread
But always with his cavaquinho in hand
And the dream of seeing his samba
Shining on television
This kid is me
What I planted has flourished
I confess it wasn't easy
My dream almost got lost
My faith prevailed
And come what may
I walk with my head held high
In this difficult journey
This kid is me
Thank you very much, my God
And to all who lent me a hand
All this struggle was worth it
Today I sing happily
Hail to the kids from all over my country
Today I sing happily
Hail to the kids from all over my country
