Se Stiamo Insieme
Riccardo Cocciante
If We Stay Together
But how many stories
I have already lived in life
and how many planned, who knows
daydreaming
stories of rivers
of vast boundless prairies
stories of deserts
and how many times I have seen
from the bow of a boat
amidst splashes and wind
the immensity of the sea
expanding inside
and like a warm caress
lighting up my heart
And then the white snow
the trees the firs
the embrace of silence
filling all my senses
to feel alone and alive
among the great mountains
and the vast open spaces
And then to come back here
to resume the life
of days the same as days
to argue with you
to cut myself with the ice
of daily winters
no, I can't accept it
It's not the life I would have ever wanted
desired to live
it's not that dream
we dreamt together
it makes me cry
yet I don't believe this is
the only way for us
If we stay together
there must be a reason
and I would like to rediscover it tonight
If we stay together
there is something
that still unites us tonight
I miss you, you know
I miss you, you know
And then to come back here
to resume the life
that seems lifeless
to argue with you and thus consume
the few eternal moments
no, I can't accept it
what kind of life is it to stay here
to wear myself out in sterile arguments
to play with you
to hurt each other during the day
and then shut ourselves in at night
yet I don't believe this is
the only way for us
If we stay together
there must be a reason
and I would like to rediscover it tonight
If we stay together
there is something
that still unites us tonight
I miss you, you know
I miss you, you know...
