Casa de Caboclo

Caboclo's House
Welcome to this caboclo's house
What I have is very little here at this end of the road
There's a saying here in our corner
That little with God is much and much without God is nothing
Don't mind my bumpy road
It's a cattle trail, it's a drover's route
When it rains, it's sticky mud
When it's sunny, it turns to dust, like a smoke screen
Your car, sir, is the first one that shows up
My dog doesn't know, has never seen a train like that
It might seem surprising to you
But progress passed by and I think it forgot about me
My water comes from the spring, no pipes
Coffee filtered through cloth, my sugar is unrefined
But it's good, made from sugarcane
The molasses from this cane sweetens any bitterness
If you're not in a hurry, I'll have
My old lady prepare a chicken with okra
Here in the countryside, I don't have that whiskey
To whet the appetite, I'll fetch a moonshine
Your car, sir, is the first one that shows up
My dog doesn't know, has never seen a train like that
It might seem surprising to you
But progress passed by and I think it forgot about me
Now that we've filled our bellies
If you want, I'll figure out a way for you to rest
Don't worry, there's no noise at all
Here in my dwelling, it's just birds and crickets
There's one thing I'll ask of you
To do me a favor when you leave
Close the gate that serves as my shield
To protect my world from that world out there
Your car, sir, is the first one that shows up
My dog doesn't know, has never seen a train like that
It might seem surprising to you
But progress passed by and I think it forgot about me
Your car, sir, is the first one that shows up
My dog doesn't know, has never seen a train like that
It might seem surprising to you
But progress passed by and I think it forgot about me
