Vengo de Galicia
Ricky Hombre Libre
I Come from Galicia
I come from Galicia, I represent it in every corner
On every corner, on every street, in every damn song
Wherever I go, I represent it
Even though I live far from Galicia, it's always in my heart
I carry it inside
I always end up emotional when I return
When the foreigner comes, it leaves with more weight
The Galician broth comes thick
We speak Galician, brother, never be ashamed of that
Our Portuguese friends
Years in the struggle with the same interests
Revolutionaries, in the neighborhoods
Those warriors, María Pita against the English
Not every day is gray
Galician girls are pretty, they can be misses
It seems small on the map, don't be mistaken
Galicia captivates people from other countries
They come back every year to watch the waves break
To drink Albariño wine and hug lampposts
To drink it with more people in any tavern
Or light the fireplace and enjoy it alone
The grandparents always wear cloth handkerchiefs
The grandmothers cover their heads if it's freezing cold
They are always so proud of their grandchildren
If the grandmother rocks them, they stay still
Galicia represents
We are proud of our Celtic culture
Culture of the land, land that feeds us
And our land is not for sale
I come from Galicia, the most beautiful place in the world
I am proud of my land
Galicia of bagpipes, of fire, of drizzle;
Of villages with lovely people
I come from Galicia, the most beautiful place in the world
I am proud of my land
Galicia of bagpipes, of fire, of drizzle;
Of villages with lovely people
I come from Galicia
Galicia is our promised land
It's not often said, we feel it in our gut
After all, we are introverted people
It's not easy to make friends, but if you do, they're forever
I put my hand in the fire
A Galician never says goodbye, says see you later
The shame of the Galician
Is not eating the last piece until everyone is full
The peasant is the one who works the most
The ritual of the 'queimada' is with a straw suit
At the bonfires of San Juan, we scare away the witches
That's why Galicians have an advantage
You can't leave without trying 'grelos'
Hold the cup well or you'll burn your fingers
There are some foods that are well known
Don't call them boiled potatoes when they are 'cachelos'
It's a land of poets,
Of wolves and witches, of beautiful butterflies,
Of rituals and spells that undo the curses,
Of fire in the hearths and milk with cookies
I come from Galicia, the most beautiful place in the world
I am proud of my land
Galicia of bagpipes, of fire, of drizzle;
Of villages with lovely people
I come from Galicia, the most beautiful place in the world
I am proud of my land
Galicia of bagpipes, of fire, of drizzle;
Of villages with lovely people
I come from Galicia
Some say that Galicia is not Spain
Politicians lie to us to campaign
Galicia is a very strange land
Where some claim to have seen the 'Santa Compaña'
Many sailors tell their stories
They repeat them many times in case their memories fail
And they feel 'morriña'
Because here in Galicia, people are not just pretty, they are lovely
Especially our girls
If you're lucky enough to know them, you enjoy them
They're not as outgoing as Latinas
But in bed, they're even more fiery
On the 'Coast of Death', the waves come strong
If you go into the sea, beware of the currents
We are a simple people
Galicians always use a toothpick to clean their teeth
Land of pilgrimage
You arrive in Santiago and a new journey begins
You go to Finisterre and burn all your baggage
The journey is something spiritual if you get the message
Galicia overflows with beauty
All the wildness in nature
All the cultural richness we proudly defend
Raising our fist and our head.
I come from Galicia, the most beautiful place in the world
I am proud of my land
Galicia of bagpipes, of fire, of drizzle;
Of villages with lovely people
I come from Galicia
