El Gallo de Sinaloa
Roberto Tapia
The Rooster from Sinaloa
I'm the rooster from Sinaloa
Played in various cockfights
It's not because I boast
Good luck follows me
In what I do
I bring death close.
I stroll through the mountains
Cities and ranches
And if they say that my buddy
Is being sought by the police
He goes to the United States
To disappear for a few days.
The DEA is after me
For invading without permission
They take the best part
If there's any seizure
The gringos never burn it
Most are tough.
I carry a short horn
And a very pretty super
They clear the way for me
And remove the danger
If they see me in trouble
Then death comes soon.
I have friends in prisons
In the north and east
Because they've been arrested
They ran out of luck
Others are in the south
Because they trust people.
If anyone wants to join
It's dangerous business
When a man is honest
He sows, harvests, and enjoys
But if he turns into a snake
He quickly falls into the pit.
