Distante Instante
Rockdrigo González
Distant Moment
If love were to return
If I had a brother, a friend
A dream within reach
That pain would die
Of seeking warmth
In the cruel maze
Of this glass of alcohol
Of these sunless streets
If I had illusions
If there were reasons, madness
Lies passions
There would be no need
To spend hours
Drinking canteens
Of this gray loneliness
Of this eternal anxiety
If I could erase
Those old memories
That like vile crows
Are already plucking my eyes
Leaving my remains
Among hurtful stories
Equally indifferent
To love and people
If you had stayed
If you had asked me
To burn the sound
Of that old past
I wouldn't be here stuck
Drowning my insides
Scratching forgetfulness
Quite confused and lost
When I am lucky
To meet death
I will offer her
All the time lived
And this brimming glass
For a distant moment, a moment
A moment of oblivion
