El trigo

The Wheat
I'm gonna cut the wheat before winter comes,
I'm gonna look at the sky to see what it will tell me.
If the seed will grow, if the wheat will be whiter,
if the boss will come in his car to take away my planting,
to take away my planting, here and there.
I'm gonna cut the wheat before it gets dark,
gonna look at the stars to see what they will tell me;
if fierce men will come to put hard chains.
Besides the bitterness, they will burn all the planting,
they will burn all the planting, here and there.
I'm gonna cut the wheat before it dies
to make a huge bread that I can share
among all my brothers who have suffered so much, so much.
That way I'll dry their tears and the wheat will be happy,
the wheat will be happy, here and there.
