As Três Lágrimas
Rolando Boldrin
The Three Tears
If I could forget
That Saint John's night
It was so good, more than that
Don't you see? She was the most beautiful girl
With her calico dress
All adorned with ribbons
On that night in the backcountry
In a whirl, tapping our feet
That's how we met
Our eyes met
Our eyes liked each other
And we liked each other too
In the sound of the guitar
That pain that consoles us
I made the declaration
And like someone asking for alms
My eyes begged
For a look from your eyes
And when the alms arrived
Wow, my God!
I don't know what I felt
I don't even know, why lie?
I don't know how it was
I felt a lump in my throat
A desire to cry
But more than that, everything tires
My eyes clouded over
And a tear rolled down
For me to have hope
Another year went by
When it was another Saint John
She was the most beautiful bride
With her calico dress
All adorned with ribbons
That stepped into the village
And when we left the church
Everyone was envious
Of our happiness
I was so satisfied, so satisfied
It seemed like my chest
Wanted to burst
I can't even explain
I don't know how it was
I felt a lump in my throat
A desire to cry, but more than that
Who says, my eyes clouded over
And another tear rolled down
For me to be so happy
But when it was another Saint John
Four candles still lit on the table
Illuminated her coffin
She was even more beautiful
With her calico dress
All adorned with ribbons
And a bouquet of flowers in her hand
When it was time to say goodbye
I didn't want her to be like that
As she said goodbye to me
I held her head
And like a madman, I kissed
I kissed her yellowed face
When she left
I didn't even know how to cry
Because the rest of my tears
I gave for her to take away
Now, sometimes in the evening
I start to think, to think
And suddenly, unintentionally, I don't know why
I feel like crying
But more than that, who knows
My eyes dried up
In the pain of this longing
