A Cruz do Salvador
R.R. Soares
The Cross of the Savior
They cut the timber,
They made a cross,
For my Savior,
Carved timber, with nails driven in,
It became heavy.
He carried the cross
He fell on the way,
But God gave him grace
Dying on the cross, for me and for you.
It was made like this
The cross of the Savior,
Carved timber
With nails driven in,
It became heavy.
Before Pilate
Jesus was taken
Like a criminal,
They came to Him, looking at the Master,
Thus they asked:
"Are you the king of the Jews?"
Jesus said: "Indeed, I am
My kingdom is eternal,
It is not of this world, I am not from here.
Arriving at Calvary, they nailed my Savior to the cross
A crown of thorns on the bleeding forehead, He pleaded to the Father
Pierced with pain, my Savior remained
At three o'clock in the afternoon, He bowed His head and expired
