Jineteada (Milonga)
Ruben Alberto Benegas
Rodeo (Milonga)
The day bends in the afternoon
The sun sinks to the grass
And the green of the fields shines
So the party can begin
Those who have arrived get ready
To enjoy this show
What the big sign announced
That said rodeo
From the bar is the whitewash
That the station is nearby
And Sunday feels more like Sunday
That turn in the spot
That's why you see them arrive
Mixed folks, locals, and outsiders
They talk about men and horses
Without holding back their praises
And since these occasions
Are good for the merchant
Street vendors
Bother with their shouting
And the announcer calls
The riders in order
Benavidez, Rojas, Murno
Bazan, Juarez, Campoamor
To do things better
They arranged a draw
With all who came
To try the reserved spots
And some double numbers
They put inside a hat
Then the wrangler
Brings the colt to the ring
And with spurs and whip
The rider waits for him
Bucking against courage
And others follow the duel
Some hold on through the spins
Others rush and get thrown
And there's always in the fight
Someone who ends up on the ground
And at the end of the day
The judges on horseback
Announce the results
Of the rodeo
A guy named Almada wins
A good outsider rider
Who was cheered by all the locals
And besides some cash
He took home a promise, a kiss
From the bar owner's daughter
