Southern Landscape (Zamba)

Tough and brave, the cowboys go
And there you hear: Yeehaw! Yeehaw!
Damn! The wind chases the knot to the ostrich
And roars when squeezing the branches of the ombú

Now the cart sinks into the dusty road
With a distant holler! Holler!
And among the cloud of dust a little vine
Deepens in the moan of the tall grass

Through a piece of land on the hillside
With the whip on his back
Goes the plowman, goes the plowman
As if to write about the homeland, the plow's blade
Like the back of an open book, a sheaf has been cut

They take a ranch to the dairy farm to separate
The mountain screams cow! Cow!
On a dry chilca tree, a finch lands
And a thrush among the bushes is barely visible

The voice of the cowboys is no longer heard
They left with their herd! Herd!
The dust raised settled again
And the sun shines back on the pasture
