Nación Rica, Nación Pobre
Rubén Blades
Rich Nation, Poor Nation
The richest nation and the poorest nation
In the whole Western hemisphere
Share a sky, a Sun, a Moon
Separated by six hundred miles of sea
In the richest nation
The black man was humiliated and forced
To sit at the back of the bus
The poorest nation
Was the first state
To abolish slavery in America
Who contradicts themselves like this?
The one who lives here or there
There's no gold on all the earth
That can buy dignity
Who's the poor one here?
The one who lives there or here
The fool is the one who tries to deny
The truth
The richest nation criticizes the world
Elevates itself as a superior example
When it makes a mistake, woe to the mouth
That dares to denounce it for its error
The richest nation sends observers
To judge our electoral process
And today, the result of their elections
Is sadder than that of Haiti or Senegal
And who became free like this?
The one who lives here or there
And now with what face
Argue superiority?
Who's the poor one here?
The one who lives there or here
It's time for them to start
Demonstrating more humility
Uh uh uh
The richest nation invests in red China
And exchanges payers with Vietnam
But imposes a blockade on Cuba for being communist
An anachronistic charlatan blockade
And even if the dictator in China is Marxist
And massacres people in Tiananmen Square and Tibet
The richest nation now certifies them
But punishes Cuba for Fidel
Who contradicts themselves like this?
The one who lives here or there
The red one who's no longer red
Has green to buy with
And who becomes free like this?
The one who lives there or here
The fool is the one who tries to deny
The truth
