Behold an angel proclaimed the First Christmas
To some poor shepherds near Bethlehem
There in the fields guarding the flocks of evil
On a night so cold and dark as well
Christmas, Christmas!
A divine King is born to us!
And suddenly in the sky a beautiful star appeared
In the east it shone with strange brilliance
And the earth received that light, which fell
Many nights still in exquisite splendor

A divine King is born to us!
Having seen the clear light of that unparalleled star
Some magi from the East went to follow
In search of a King who was to come
To the Jews and fulfill the old promises
Christmas, Christmas!
A divine King is born to us!
That star appeared and guided the magi
On the road that led them to Bethlehem
Finally, over Bethlehem that star stopped
Right above the house where Jesus was
Christmas, Christmas!
A divine King is born to us!
And the magi, eager, and with great fear
On their knees entered that place
With generous and very valuable offerings
Gold and myrrh and incense they came to give

And with them we go, with sincere fervor
To praise our sublime Lord
Who, leaving the high heavens, came down to this world
