Mi Elegida
Salta La Banca
My Chosen One
No one but you understands
How hard it is for me to admire
The most beautiful part of me.
That I never see the green
And that I suffer in solitude
The miseries that I hide.
But you know well that nothing
Is sadder than resentment
That I lay bare in the fight.
What turns into a battle
Our simple argument
When differences arise.
The past is a troublemaker and shows up
Every time you want to play your role
And even though nothing justifies crossing the line
I beg you to keep that in mind.
When it hurts, you don’t forget, it beats like a rock,
And that’s why I end up getting violent
Despite your screw-ups, I could forgive you.
I plead that you know how to forgive me.
Because I swear I learned something from life
And it’s that there’s no worse mistake than idealizing.
Today I enjoy knowing that you’re real.
And of all that’s real, you’re my chosen one.
You taught me among other things
Not to omit the truth
And that’s why I’m writing to you.
Because, even if there aren’t roses,
You encouraged simplicity
And I’m grateful for that.
That’s why I’ve come
With my hug turned into a song
To tell you what I never did.
That thanks to you I exist
And I owe you who I am
Because you gave me your help.
In tough times, not always putting on a brave face
Taking responsibility to solve things.
And if there’s one thing I have to be thankful for
It’s that you brought the great Guevara into my life.
That the system always tries to bring us down,
But you should never lose your dignity.
With pride, you put on your apron
And go out to shape new citizens.
That if there’s an injustice, don’t stay silent,
Fight the system hand in hand.
It’s not Oedipus, I know my mom is human,
But I know she’s the greatest of the species.
