Who am I
I have the most beautiful way to express
I am Mangueira, a unique poetry
I went to Lácio and in my verses I sing the last flower
That spread across several continents
A source of love
Caravels set sail to the sea
By destiny they found Brazil
Bringing us the greatest wealth
Our Portuguese language
Mixed with Tupi, became Brazilian
Later the song of the black echoed
And so the language changed

I go from Camões' verses
To the fallen dry leaves of Mangueira
It's an eternal flame, a gift of creation
That speaks to the beating of the heart

Singing I go
From Oiapoque to Chuí to listen
My homeland is my language
Adored masterpiece, I make you immortal
Hail, poets and composers
Hail also the writers
Who enriched your history
Oh my Brazil
Of the sons of this land you are a kind mother
Today the Portuguese heritage leads us
To the station of light

Come on the Mangueira turn, come samba
My language has the gift of transforming
Makes the Palace of Samba a Portuguese house
It's a Portuguese house for sure
