Na Casa do Oleiro
Samuel Mariano
At the Potter's House
The word of the Lord came to me saying:
Go down to the potter's house, I want to speak with you
So I got up and obeyed his voice
And to God's address, I began to walk
Arriving at the potter's house, I stopped to observe
A lump of clay that was on the wheels
And the potter's hands, shaping it as he pleased
And a vessel in his own way he formed
But after contemplating that scene
The vessel in the potter's hand broke
The potter took the broken vessel
Put it on the wheels, and a new vessel he formed
Then I heard the voice of God
Can I not do with you the same way?
Like clay in the potter's hand, so are you
I do what I want, my power has no limits, it has no end.
I will break you, make you anew
And in my house you will be a new vessel
Go down to the pottery, I will mold you
When you are molded, then I will use you
I break you, knead you, undo you, redo you
I give you shine with anointing, you are mine
Do not fear, move forward, be strong
Be a believer, sing and rejoice
And declare on earth that I am God
