Evah, Adam y Las Manzanas
Santa RM
Eve, Adam, and the Apples
His name is Adam, one of those lonely guys who go
From home to work, from work back home, just out for bread
He’s a quiet man, with few friends
Not to say none, only God talks to him instead
He lives in a town far from the city
You know, those towns where fate and chance collide
He’s on his way home, turning that corner
Distracted when a divine sign hits him hard
The car hits him, then he flies
But without knowing, it’s driven by who’ll be his soulmate
She takes him to the hospital, cares for him and stays
Hoping he’ll recover under the light of a candle
Several days have passed, but Adam hasn’t woken
That’s why she doesn’t want to leave his side
On the seventh day, he regains consciousness, scared
Adam doesn’t recognize the place
The doctor comes in and tells him a bit of the story
Then images start coming back to his memory
She enters like the light at the end of a cave
I hope you forgive me, she says, my name is Eve
He rubs his eyes, can’t believe it
He tells the doctor: What have I done to deserve
For God to send an angel to watch over my bed
The doctor laughs, just losing a rib
You’re not a piece of clay
I didn’t come from a rib
Little by little, I’m tearing apart
I don’t know if it’s a dream or a nightmare
I don’t know if God wanted it
He gave us a paradise
A couple of human souls
It’s Eve and Adam and those silly apples
After several months, they made a commitment
They moved in together, rented a nice place
What can I say, saying perfect was imprecise
A couple of soulmates living in paradise
Clothes all over the floor, naked, without shame
There’s no embarrassment when love is in the eyes
How beautiful it is to share when you truly care
When you don’t let anyone else interfere or compare
Eve has a friend who always talks under her breath
With green eyes and a snake tattoo on her chest
She doesn’t believe in commitment, says it’s all a lie
That nothing’s a sin when the eyes don’t pry
Another trip around the sun for Eve and her life
Her wish is to be happy and stay with Adam tight
Her friend comes close: Enjoy it, dear
Looks at her gift and sees a bitten apple near
You’re not a piece of clay
I didn’t come from a rib
Little by little, I’m tearing apart
I don’t know if it’s a dream or a nightmare
I don’t know if God wanted it
He gave us a paradise
A couple of human souls
It’s Eve and Adam and those silly apples
Eve is distracted by her bitten apple
Adam feels the distance and that their love is slipping
The food gets cold, he notices she’s lost
Thinks it’s temporary and lets her decide
Days pass, weeks, months
Life is a mirror, you get what you give
Adam tells Eve he feels her distant
That all day she’s with the apple in front
Eve thinks he’s exaggerating, that everything’s just fine
Decides to take a bitten apple for herself this time
Then both are lost, spending so much time on this
That they’ve forgotten the last time they shared a kiss
When they eat, they don’t talk, before sleeping, no words
It’s been a while since they’ve had a real conversation
She’s lost in her dreams and pleasures
Adam with his apple, talking to other women
I don’t know if it was God who wanted it
Who gave them a paradise
Apples, snakes, poison, people
And some precise moments
You tell me who let us down
If it was you or maybe me
Problems and doubts, excesses and debts
And paradise is gone
I want this to end now
I don’t want to get used to it
Send us a guide
I see no way out
We’re hanging by a thread and no
The heart no longer beats
There’s no paradise anymore
I want to get lost if I’m not with you
