Aquellos Días Que Viví
Santiago Cruz
Those Days I Lived
I remember those days I lived,
when I dreamed I would be an astronaut.
Don Julio took me to discover
the lakes where the mermaids sleep.
I remember that Superman costume,
being a star in grandma's gatherings.
Also the window that ended
in pieces for being Diego in the 'Azteca'.
It was my grandparents' house
where all dreams were born.
It was a knight's castle
and today they are the memories' goblins.
I remember those days I lived,
she swore she would be an astronaut.
The old doctor's van,
and the coins for leaving it like new.
Counting by fives until finding
the friends I still keep in the race.
Two suns that made me who I am
and six stars that feed my existence.
I think of my grandparents' house
and I cry for the days that have passed.
It was my grandparents' house
where all dreams were born.
