Poems and Promises
We've burned our hands
as many times as needed.
We've bitten the ground
every time we fell.
And if ever on some day
I've made a mistake,
now all I can tell you
is that I'm sorry.
But we shouldn't look back
to feel good,
we shouldn't look back to know
all that we've done.
Now my face is burnt by the wind.
I also have your poems
written on my skin
and if one day you need them
don't worry, I'll keep them for you
and if one day you need them
don't worry, I won't forget them,
I carry them written on my skin.
But you know very well that we need
to hurry,
that maybe we're not on time.
We left home
a long time ago
we left one day
when there was no wind.
The sails didn't move,
the sea was calm.
We were adrift,
nothing was visible on the horizon.
We shouldn't look back
to feel good,
we shouldn't look back
to know all that we've done.
And all the promises
we made to each other one day
sealed with the gaze
of one who only has faith;
if one day you need them
don't worry, I'll keep them.
If one day you need them
don't worry, I won't forget them,
I have them written on my skin.
But you know very well that we need
to hurry,
that maybe we're not on time.
Poems and promises,
poems and promises written on the skin
written on the skin.
We shouldn't look back
to feel good,
we shouldn't look back
to know all that we've done.
Autumn has arrived,
I'm starting to feel cold,
the hours seem short to me
and these times are very uncertain;
because life goes fast
and I feel it slipping through my hands,
The poems and promises
that we sealed that day
I'll never forget,
because we need to hurry
that maybe we're not on time.
