El lazarillo De Tormes
Saurom
The Life of Lazarillo de Tormes
On the banks of the Tormes river I was raised
In a hostile environment I survived by stealing
My poor, sad mother handed me over to a blind man
Who will be my master and I his hands
Trickery took over our lives
Such a cruel life where there was no way out
The old man taught me the art of deception
I felt stronger every day
Life is a battle
Luck that must be overcome
And when hunger strikes, there is nothing to lose
The blind man and the squire
The friar or the constable
They never gave me as much in return as I gave them
I begged for alms in the streets
With the greed of one who is never satisfied
I left my masters because I didn't believe in miracles
I bought a sword and all in vain
I followed the path of the failures
But I found something to do, I became an honest man
The story wanted me to marry the princess
But I always loved the maid
Life is a battle
Luck that must be overcome
And when hunger strikes, there is nothing to lose
The blind man and the squire
The friar or the constable
They never gave me as much in return as I gave them
And now the books tell my life
For history, I was a loser
A scoundrel with no future, a rogue, a poor thief
But I fought against the misery
Of a golden century that was forgotten
That what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger and polishes the heart
