Terra-Titanic
Peter Schilling
Earth-Titanic
The radar foresaw it
The sonar warned
The captain sovereignly fills the whiskey glass in his hand to the brim
On the sun deck the iceberg is visible
Majestic
Threatening and eerily beautiful
One feels the danger
But one cannot see it
Earth-Titanic - lost at sea
S-O-S never reaches
No one sees the distress signals anymore
End of the line, ocean
The giant rears up groaning
The dancer is left behind
Explosion in the engine room - the last boat was lucky
Was lucky
The rats leave the sinking ship
But the captain in a tuxedo ignores them
With the glass in hand - and the flood extinguishes the light
Earth-Titanic - lost at sea
S-O-S never reaches
Earth-Titanic - lost at sea
S-O-S never reaches
