The Journey
Gentlemen, give me permission
To tell you that I don't believe
What the news says
What they tell in the newspapers
What I understand as misery
What I say for justice
What I understand as a singer
What I say at every moment
What I leave in the past
The stories I have told
Or some repentant hatred
So that you don't expect
My song to be cheerful
So that my whole life
Is laid bare to you
So you know that I lie
Like poets do
Who, loving themselves
Make their life a great concert
Let me tell you this
That tightens my shirt
When I hide inside
And if anyone wants laughter
They have to look back
Looking at the shop windows
That adorn the towns
Or look towards the street
Where those children play
Begging for coins out of hunger
Inhaling glue
To calm so much torment
Caused by the economy
It's true that it's funny
But I believe they know
Where those children sleep
Frozen in the cold
Lying on the pavement
Hanging from the ledges
Feeding on justice
To give time to the newspaper
To focus on sports
To distract the mind
To divert the gaze
From this journey
Through our history
Through the concepts
Through the landscape
