Dalla Pace Del Mare Lontano
Sergio Cammariere
From the Peace of the Distant Sea
From the peace of the distant sea
To the green and transparent waves
Where silence no longer calls
And everything blends
From the gray and black lagoons
From the tireless toil
From thirst to hunger to fear
To the most secret torment
We had fathers, we had mothers
Brothers, friends, and acquaintances
And we learned to give a new name
To our feelings
And so one day to walk
On this earth under a stingy sun
For a love that seemed sweet
And was discovered bitter
But it's just an echo in the wind
In the wind that answers me
May peace come from the distant sea
May silence come from the waves
And in the middle of the sea there's a distant point
So far from the houses and the port
Where the voice of the dearest things
Is just a memory
But from that point on
You can't distinguish anymore
The shadow line confuses
Memories and people in the wind
We had fathers, we had mothers
Brothers, friends, and acquaintances
And we learned to give a new name
To our feelings
And so one day to walk
On the earth under the stingy sun
For a love that seemed sweet
And was discovered bitter
But it's just an echo in the wind
In the wind that answers me
May peace come from the distant sea
May silence come from the waves
But it's just an echo in the wind
In the wind that answers me
May peace come from the distant sea
May silence come from the waves.
