Adopted Son
With sacrifice
I raised my seven children
Of my own blood, there were six
And I adopted one when he was almost a month old
I was a traveler
A farmer, a wanderer
And to feed my children
I often went without food for days
Seven children
Seven innocent mouths
Very poor, but happy
I made sure they never lacked for anything
They grew up
And it became more difficult
I worked from dawn to dusk
But they had to go to school
My suffering
Oh, my God, it was worth it
How many tears I shed
But it was all done with so much love
Seven diplomas
Six of them very important
As I toiled in the fields
They managed to become doctors
Today I am old
My hair has turned gray
My body is worn out
And my hands hardly move anymore
I use a cane
I know I'm a burden
I know I sometimes get in the way
My children too much
Time passed
And I became very ill
Now I live in a nursing home
And only one child comes to see me
This child of mine
Poor thing, so honest
Lives only from the work
He found to make a living
But God is great
He will hear my prayers
This dear child of mine will succeed
I know he will
It’s been a long time
Since I’ve seen the other children
I know they are doing well
And no longer need their father
One fine day
Feeling abandoned
I heard a voice right beside me
Father, I’ve come to take you home
Pack your bags
Come with me, for I have succeeded
I bought a house and have a wife
And your grandchild is on the way
Out of joy, I cried and looked up to the sky
Thank you, my Lord
The reward has come
My God, protect
My six dear children
But it was my adopted son
Who supported this old man
