Adopted Son

With sacrifice
I raised my seven children
Of my blood, there were six
And one I took in at almost a month

I was a traveler
I was a farmer, I was a walker
And to feed my children
I didn't eat for more than once

Seven children
Seven innocent mouths
Very poor, but happy
I didn't let anything be missing

They were growing up
It was getting harder
I worked from sunup to sundown
But they had to study

My suffering
Ah, my God, it was worth it
How many tears I cried
But everything was with much love

Seven diplomas
Six very important ones
Who, at the cost of a hoe
Managed to become a doctor

Today I am old
My hair turned white
My body is worn out
My hands don't move anymore

I use a cane
I know I give a lot of trouble
I know I sometimes get in the way
Of my children too much

Time passed
And I got very sick
Today I live in a nursing home
And only one son comes to see me

This son of mine
Poor thing, very honest
Lives only from the work
He found to live

But God is great
He will hear my prayers
This beloved son of mine will succeed
I know he will

It's been a long time
Since I've seen the other children
I know they are well
And no longer need their father

One beautiful day
Feeling abandoned
I heard a voice right by my side
Father, I came to take you

Pack your bags
Come with me, for I have succeeded
I bought a house and have a wife
And your grandson is on the way
With joy, I cried and looked to the sky
Thank you, my Lord
The reward has arrived

My God protect
My six beloved children
But it was my adopted son
Who supported this old man
