Chico Mineiro

Chico Mineiro
Every time I remember
About my friend Chico Mineiro
Of the trips we used to take
He was my companion
I feel a sadness
A desire to cry
Remembering those times
That will never return
Although I was the boss
I had in my heart
My friend Chico Mineiro
A good and determined countryman
On the guitar he was skilled
And he was the cowboy's helper
But now with sadness
Remembering the feats
Of our daring journey
We traveled for over ten years
Selling cattle and buying
Across this endless land
The countryman feared nothing
But there came a day
When Chico parted from me
We made our last journey
It was to the backlands of Goiás
It was me and Chico Mineiro
And also the foreman
We traveled many days to reach Ouro Fino
Where we spent the night at a divine party
The party was so good, but I wish we hadn't gone
Chico was shot by an unknown man
I stopped buying cattle
They killed my companion
The sound of the guitar ended
Chico Mineiro was gone
After that tragedy
I was even more upset
I didn't know about our friendship
Because we were united
When I saw his document
It broke my heart
I found out that Chico Mineiro
Was my true brother
