Una Mujer
Camilo Sesto
A Woman
Long ago
a few years back
when my childhood
was fading away
and my shorts
were left forgotten
I met a woman
Her world
was made of fine paper
so full of color and fantasy
and her heart a honeycomb
where a thousand mouths ate
and quenched their thirst
She was a woman
above woman
a refuge for souls
She was a woman
much more than a woman
now she is nothing
Today her laughter
sounds tired
in her house there's no love
not even a friend
offering friendship
there's nothing
The dirty mud of a puddle
eats away at her home
she raises her arms to the wind
seeking truth in words
No one hears her
people move away
and she follows her steps
with her gaze lowered
She was a woman
above woman
a refuge for souls
She was a woman
much more than a woman
now she is nothing
I reached out my arms
time and time again
wanted to help her
and her hands of old silk
slip away from mine, slip away
Life, everything ends
even her honey ended
her flame went out
her back is made of asphalt
and life runs
over her back
She was a woman
above woman
a refuge for souls
She was a woman
much more than a woman
now she is nothing
