Ergue-se a Cruz
Shirley Carvalhaes
The Cross is Raised
In the streets of Jerusalem, my Savior walked
Carrying a heavy cross, feeling great pain
And the whole crowd shouted: Crucify this evildoer!
They didn't know they were killing their Creator
And my Master fell with the heavy cross
And the sound of the whip, of the executioner was heard
And Jesus went on, and Jesus went on
To the mountain where He would die for me
And the crown of thorns wounded His forehead
And the precious blood flowed, on His face of light
He carried on His shoulders the weight of my sins
And Jesus went to die for me
Then the cross is raised, with my Savior on it
A breeze blew, bringing the pain and loneliness of the world
And Jesus breathed His last, hope died
The light of heaven went out, the Earth trembled
Jesus Christ died
And now, the light of the world, doesn't shine anymore
The hope of salvation died on the cross
And the pain of loneliness tightens the soul
But His great love for me made Him return
Jesus rose, covered in glory
Ensuring forever, my victory
Christ lives, He is risen
Christ lives, He is the Lord
Christ lives, He lives, He is risen
