Memory (feat. SAT)

Shurik'N:
Step back, zoom in on an eight-year-old kid
Backpack on, heading to school, joined by a group of friends
The benches creaked, the classroom was made of plywood
Fresh asphalt, the neighborhood wasn’t even finished
Too busy talking about our marbles and the soldiers we’d play
We didn’t hear the vehicle come rolling in
For a kid, you can imagine the shock
When you see a truck roll over your buddy’s body
Change of scenery, we’re not the same age anymore
The station wagon pulls up
I ditch class like a bird escaping its cage
We meet up, dance together, bonds are formed
A friendship is born, that’s how a crew is made
A few years later, after a fight or a couple of blows
Your freedom flies away like a partridge in hunting season
I keep in mind all those moments that marked my life
And they make me appreciate it even more since then

Sat:
In short, we’re just like simple additions
The accumulation of choices, intersections
No mercy, gotta own it
The slightest mistake can quickly lead to fatality
In short, we’re all just like simple additions
On the mic we hit hard, a rap from the heart, our direction
I keep in mind all these memories
That make me who I am
Just like mine, I can’t betray them

Shurik'N:
You’re young, scrappy, you fear nothing, the world is yours
Fights on every corner, for the next one, I rub my hands
High school was just a battleground where I waited for the weekend
And there, like a phoenix, I was reborn
Wasted all night, felt sick, threw up
What time? Eleven o'clock, let’s go hang out in the next town
Wild tiger is untamed, it ended in a brawl, women on the run
Bottle hits, flying chairs, it scatters
From all sides, that’s how we found ourselves
Trapped, armed with a switchblade, in the mix, I struck
Lost sleep for ten days, ten nights
Learning that night two guys were left on the steps
Gone, triggering the most intense fear
That only stopped when another had to face the sentence
My childhood was partly spent without my dad
Mom did what she could, I admit for her, it was hell
I realize how maybe dumb a little shit can be
With each of his departures, like a fool, I was happy
Older, wiser, I understood later
The sacrifices they made so we wouldn’t end up homeless
My grandma disappeared without a word
I now know that at the same moment a child was born in Kashmir
My first used car wasn’t much to brag about
But what could we do, the hustlers when I rolled with my crew
Dance contests, the breakdancers
In the clubs, there were always losers to put back in line
I keep in mind all these things that make me who I am
It’s life experience that makes a man a man
And if I am where I am today
It’s because at certain crossroads I made the right choices
Mom, we won’t have spent this night under the bridges for nothing
Her son knows what he’ll be tomorrow

Sat:
No, impossible to betray
March, we’re kicking it off, we’re inaugurating
It’s Sat and Shurik'N, it’s a good omen
We represent our own
