O Culpado
Silvan Santos
The Guilty One
From afar I can see the bloody cross
And a Man agonizing in suffering
The hardships that marked His body
Even the Father turned away not to see
The hammer blows that echoed
Oh! The spear that pierced His heart
The warm blood running among the thorns
Was the price for my salvation
Why did they kill this Man?
What crime did He commit?
They killed the wrong Man
This Man was innocent
The guilty one was me
Why did they kill this Man
If He is the author of life itself?
And this was my joy
I read that, on the third day, this Man rose again
The most beautiful story I heard
Was when someone spoke of Him to me
His story changed my story
And His love I cannot translate
I still cry when I remember the false kiss
Oh! Why such betrayal?
But He triumphed over death and Hell
So I could sing this song
