La Despedida
Silvina Moreno
The Farewell
She rushes out
With wet sandals
Running for the train
She knows that tomorrow
Is the last day
She'll have with him
She won't allow herself to cry
She won't allow herself to complain
She wants to be lucky
To feel strong or at least pretend
Never in her life has she prayed to anyone
But she looked up at the sky
If there's an angel who can hear me
I ask you, please, take care of him, take care of him
He knew, the next day
That it was time and it hurt to say goodbye
She doesn't want to let him go
She's terrified of leaving him without love
She won't allow herself to cry
She won't allow herself to complain
She wants to be lucky
To feel strong or at least pretend
Never in her life has she prayed to anyone
But she looked up at the sky
If there's an angel who can hear me
I ask you, please, take care of him, take care of him
Letting go, let go, it scratches the soul
And God knows why it is
What irony, what irony, what irony this life
That brings us together only to tear us apart
Never in her life has she prayed to anyone
But she looked up at the sky
If there's an angel who can hear me
I ask you, please, take care of him, take care of him
