Mientras Tanto
Silvio Rodriguez
In the Meantime
If anyone is bothered by my sincere desire
to express life in my song,
(If anyone doesn't like my reason for
this great obsession of dreaming,)
I'll just say that when I can
I'll hang my voice in some common place,
that when I can I'll let go of my way of thinking,
that when I can my guitar will end up in the sea.
But in the meantime,
I have to speak, I have to live,
I have to say what I have to think.
In the meantime,
but in the meantime,
I have to speak, sing and shout
about life, love, war, pain.
And later
I'll save my voice.
If anyone is upset with my ways
of this great obsession of dreaming,
I'll just say that when I can
I'll make a big pile of songs and leave,
that when I can I'll be old and won't sing anymore,
that when I can I won't caress my guitar.
But in the meantime,
but in the meantime,
I have to speak, I have to live,
I have to say what I have to think.
In the meantime,
oh, but in the meantime
I have to speak, sing and shout
about life, love, war, pain.
And later
I'll save my voice
