Al Lado de Mi Casa
Silvio Rodriguez
Next to My House
Next to my house
there is another house
where people are seen living,
like there, like here.
Inhabited by beings
similar to me,
a man, a woman,
a child unknowingly.
They laugh at what I laugh,
they cry at what I cry.
The same happens to you:
we are the same in everything.
If the world were
just two families
- I'm going to exaggerate -
just two people:
How much concern
from one to the other.
How much fear of being
alone in the darkness.
Then brotherhood would be
enjoying coexistence
and not like in reality
which is about survival.
According to the people's saying,
to be a brother,
is more than communion
or sharing a pair of pants.
Loneliness is
part of the path
of those who have no gift,
of those who are not lords.
If this lesson is applied
to the universal level
either we stand by another canyon
or we see them agonize.
