La Ilusión
Silvio Rodriguez
The Illusion
I don't make illusions with you
I don't want that cruel awakening
but there are seconds
where the rest of the world
darkens and I see you shine,
at that exact hour
your beauty captivates me
and without strength I let myself go.
I pass through flickering curtains
living in another light of reality
and in the new hallucinating space
I sing without shame or vanity
and once again I learn that a moment
longing is more than truth.
Then I feel reborn
despite every ingratitude
like an old blooming trunk
that regains its health
it's worth being so mortally wounded
when agony is the virtue.
it's worth being so mortally wounded
when agony is the virtue.
I don't make illusions with you
but when I lose my reason
a work of art
appears when I look at you
illuminated with fascination
and with fate cast
my soul is stolen
by the joy that illusion brings.
