La Desilusión

The Disillusionment

THE FOOL

To not shatter my icon,
to save myself among the odd and even,
to grant me a place in his Parnassus,
to give me a little corner in his altars.
They come to invite me to repent,
they come to invite me not to lose,
they come to invite me to be undefined,
they come to invite me to so much shit.

I don't know what destiny is,
walking, I was what I was.
God knows, it will be divine.
I'll die as I lived.

I want to keep playing at being lost,
I want to be more left-handed than right-handed,
I want to hold a united congress,
I want to pray a deep Our Father.
They'll say that madness has gone out of style,
they'll say that people are bad and don't deserve it,
but I'll keep dreaming of mischief
(perhaps multiplying loaves and fishes).

I don't know what destiny is,
walking, I was what I was.
God knows, it will be divine.
I'll die as I lived.

They say they'll drag me over rocks
when the Revolution falls apart,
that they'll crush my hands and my mouth,
that they'll tear out my eyes and my clapper.
It must be that foolishness gave birth to me,
the foolishness of what today seems foolish:
the foolishness of assuming the enemy,
the foolishness of living without a price.

I don't know what destiny is,
walking, I was what I was.
God knows, it will be divine.
I'll die as I lived.

THE DISILLUSIONMENT

Like coins
her theme tinkled
the disillusionment.
With red lips
and sagging big breasts
the disillusionment.
Smoking blondes
and exhaling alcohol,
the bed's owner embroidered
on the underwear.

What delirium in interrogation,
what suicide in investigation:
brilliant fashion show
the disillusionment.

She opened a business,
reviving idleness,
the disillusionment.
Like tourism
she invented the abyss
the disillusionment.
She touched the diamond
and turned it into coal,
and the scoundrel
she planted in the administration.

What delirium in interrogation,
what suicide in investigation:
brilliant fashion show
the disillusionment.
