Life and Other Matters
Who lifts the stones that later
become roofs of different stories.
Who builds roads that connect
the islands and the continents.
Who put together the birds that land us
in distant worlds.
Who structured
the sounds that fill my hands.
How much invisible work the sun does.
Who will go with me
who was happy, who got lost
alone and childless.
After how many am I the result.
Life and other matters
perhaps the round of never and always
is whether I perceive or dream
the shadows that bring the latent world to life.
Whether it's postponed justice
the missing sum of what's different
or maybe it's a fever of Angels
accidentally contracted.
Where I crawled, I grew
what bed did I use for my love
what broken glass was the window
of a song.
Life and other matters
perhaps my oldest and most recent vice
is that I live in a country, latitude, and
universe
or maybe it's common.
Today another dog has died on me
this time from a massive heart attack.
How will
the beer that the gravedigger
will drink
when he's done giving me shelter.
