Por Todo Espacio, Por Todo Tiempo
Silvio Rodriguez
Through All Space, Through All Time
When they fall asleep and feel in dreams
that they knock on the door
as if asking to come in,
don't bother, perhaps it's my shadow
wandering some nights
looking for something to love.
Sometimes it's six o'clock
and when the sun rises
I meet it
and greet it
here, there,
tomorrow, today,
through all space, through all time.
Whoever finds me then
will take away my cold
and it's not worth
wasting the warmth;
I'm distracted and ungrateful
and my cold sticks
and I don't know,
but it hurts.
Sometimes it's six o'clock
and when the sun rises
I meet it
and greet it
here, there,
tomorrow, today,
through all space, through all time.
When I pass by and knock on the door,
they bury themselves in the sand
like an ostrich.
Let my bad silhouette pass by
with its awake cannon
and its speed of light.
Sometimes it's six o'clock
and when the sun rises
I meet it
and greet it
here, there,
tomorrow, today,
through all space, through all time.
