Si Seco Un Llanto
Silvio Rodriguez
If I Dry a Tear
One day, by the sea,
the saddest song
heard a soul cry out its pain,
and for the soul it went
vibrating the tune,
moved and gentle,
amazed.
Why do you weep
-the song said-
that you have turned my heart into grace?
What good is it to me
-the sob replied-
virtue, if I don't have a beautiful song?
I suspect that today I begin to be a song.
And I have the feeling
that I will be your sun
if I manage to be your song.
I suspect that today I begin to be a song,
if I dry a tear.
One day, by the sea,
a soul found its voice
and a tune found its reason.
It was the day when
the enchanted truth was born:
the melody and the soul in love.
The soul with a song
lit up its home,
and the song with a soul took flight.
Since then the two
lived more slowly,
despite their time and space.
I suspect that today I begin to be a song.
And I have the feeling
that I will be your sun
if I manage to be your song.
I suspect that today I begin to be a song,
if I dry a tear.
