Letting go of everything and leaving, what a wonder,
hoarding only nutrient bones,
and setting off on the road stepping on clay,
destined for the shining stars.
Tattered pants, old shoes,
blizzard hat, claw eye,
scrutinizing enigmas in the mirrors
and learning concerts of the cicadas.
With fleeting and unforgettable loves,
with forevermores pregnant as foam
and the sharp steel of the probables
hanging vigilant next to the moon.
Letting go of everything and leaving. How fascinating
to return to the holy craft of the weathervane,
stripping life naked like a rogue
and dreaming that one day you will be a poet.
