L'oiseau

The Bird
I know the clear mists
The pink snow of winter mornings
I could find you
The white hare that is never seen
But the bird, the bird has flown away
And I will never find it
Because I saw the bird fly
I saw the bird, I know it was leaving
I heard it cry
The beautiful bird that the wind was chasing
I would give you everything
But why don't you tell me anything
What is your big secret
A man's secret
I understand it well
But you know I can tell you
How much the bird left reluctantly
If one day you listened to me
You would learn everything I know
The bird leaves and then returns
You might see it tomorrow
If I ever met
This beautiful bird that flew away
If it returns from its journey
Close to you along the shore
Me, you see, I would tell it
How much I know it meant to you
It's the bird you loved
The jealous bird, I guessed
If it returns from its journey
I would tell it that you were waiting for it
