Corrido de Rosaura
Sparx
Ballad of Rosaura
The prettiest in town
Rosaura always was
Her hair very long
Her lips like a carnation
She had the reputation of being ungrateful
She always played with men
For being flirtatious and light
She found a very sad death
By the edge of a dam
Around dusk
She had a love date
With two true ranchers
One was named Nabor
And the other Abel
Their hearts skipped a beat for such a beautiful woman
One June night
People heard noises
Of two who were swimming
But never returned
Early the next day
Abel was found drowned
But Rosaura's body
Never surfaced
Nabor fled to the mountains
And never returned to town
His body was found hanging
From a dried-up tree
The women are singing
As they wash their clothes
The bulls go down to the water
There are turkeys in the place
In the middle of that dam
Where Rosaura drowned
Among the muddy flowers
A white lily sprouted
