It was a matter of seconds
I was hit and then I fell to the ground
Right away I realized that my heart
Went into despair and sped up

I had to get up
But I was injured and too weak to go on
So, I went looking for a safer place
Took three steps, but in great pain, I returned to the ground

A man appeared and lay down beside me
He shook my body
And noticed that I was very hurt

I was down, bleeding
Thirsty, hungry, and afraid
But He held my hand
Stayed by my side the whole time

With every breath I took
He came and said: It's not time to sleep
He gave me some water
A piece of bread to carry on

He said with such firmness
No one will die, no one will give up
And He looked into my eyes
And, with so much love, said to me

I don't give up
On you, my child, and if necessary
I'll step into the middle of the war just to remind you
