O Sonho

The Dream
I dreamt that I had died
I don't remember exactly why
I found myself in front of a tall and beautiful gate
With a sign that read: Heaven
I knocked with some apprehension
An angel came out to greet me
He said: Can I help you? I said: I want to enter
Because that's where I belong
The curious angel asked me
I can't find your name in our records
I said: Look in an old book
Written before the world existed
And there you will find, in the king's handwriting
My name in red ink
Someone handed the angel
Records that I recognized
A compendium of all the laws I broke
And the sins I committed
The angel looked at the records
Visibly shocked
And asked me: Is this how you lived?
And I replied yes
So how do you have the courage
To come knocking on this door?
I said: Look closely at the end of this list
Do you recognize this handwriting?
And the angel smiled and said to me
It's true! The king wrote: Forgiven!
And at the sound of that beautiful word
That gate opened
Then I entered singing a hymn
What a pity the dream ended
Those words stayed with me
First, I want to see my savior
