Sea Glass
Straightener
Sea Glass
I want to see the world through your eyes
There are things I can't see, but I know they’re there
Right now, I don’t want to know the answers
When joy and sorrow should meet at the right time
I gathered the shards of glass revealed by the waves
And lit a candle with them
When you smile, the air starts to tremble
Fleeting feelings spill out just a bit
Heading to the ocean for the last time this year
The sunset dyes my white shirt
Leaving behind two long shadows
Summer is rushing to its end
The waves keep crashing and repeating
But no two shapes are ever the same
I gathered the torn pieces of a discarded notebook
And scattered them across the blue sky
Until you cry, I won’t be inside
Surely, the time will come when my fleeting wish reaches you
Heading to the ocean for the last time this year
The sunset dyes my white shirt
Leaving behind two long shadows
Summer is rushing to its end
Heading to the ocean for the last time this year
The sea breeze untangles my red hair
Holding the round glass up to the light
I’m searching for the next words.
