Librepensador
Tabaré Cardozo
Freethinker
When everyone gets on the boat
I throw myself down the stairs
I'm the blind man I have in my care
My own blindness dazzles me
I have a short circuit in the cables
That turns off and turns on my antenna
And a weak, unstable signal
That I don't think is worth it
I no longer have a club
Nor association
Nor union
I toast to the health
Of the deserter
In contempt
When I'm light on luggage
I'll be a freethinker
I have blurry parts of the plan
And my wooden fork is broken
I no longer understand the language used
By the warriors of our gang
And I'm scared to follow the herd
That defends, tooth and nail
Old mistaken formulas
That work mechanically
I no longer have a club
Nor association
Nor union
I toast to the health
Of the deserter
In contempt
When I set fire to my badges
I'll be a freethinker
I've been bored for a while
Doubting my own judgment
Taking sides
Taking things seriously
When the mundane murmur howls
Collapsing from the ledges
I know I have paper airplanes
In the pages of the news
I no longer have a club
Nor association
Nor union
I toast to the health
Of the deserter
In contempt
In the ranks of the opposing side
They've already ordered my head
Because they think I'm a fighter
In a war that doesn't interest me
