Boys and the Sky

After school, I dash home, tossing my backpack
I run to our usual meeting spot, turning at the corner
Gathering in front of the jungle gym at the park, it’s always the same faces
I wonder what’s gonna happen today, my heart races every day
Ah, the sky is so blue, ah, the sky is so high

Someone’s definitely got a rubber ball
We played with it until it was pitch black outside
We had our own rules for baseball, just us there
Sneaking snacks from school, I’d scribble on the pavement
We’d play rock-paper-scissors to split the teams, just chasing that ball
Ah, back then I had no real worries, did I?

As I grow up, I’m sure I’ll gain something
But as I grow up, I’m sure I’ll lose something
If tomorrow I get a little closer to being an adult
I wonder what else I’ll lose...
I wonder what else I’ll lose...

At the back of my house, there’s a long, steep hill
There’s a cliff exposed on the side, we decided to bury our treasures there
We stuffed a can of cookies with a hundred milk caps
And we made a treasure map just for us
Ah, now that hill has a big bypass running through it

As I grow up, I’m sure I’ll take something away
But as I grow up, I’m sure something will be taken from me
If tomorrow I get a little closer to being an adult
I wonder what else I’ll lose...
I wonder what else will be taken from me...

When did I become an adult? Where was that boundary line?
Singing about this now, I must be an adult already
Even if one by one, I lose things along the way
There are definitely things that won’t disappear
Only the dreams of those childhood days still shine in my heart
Ah, the sky is so blue, ah, the sky remains so high...
