R-A-K-A-S
Riding home from the town,
I saw a farmer on the road,
You’ll find a girl so dark,
Pretty as a spark,
Said my friend to me,
She’s by the riverbank where the pine trees smell,
I’ll give you one piece of advice, forget the rest, oh well.
I threw everything away for a woman,
How could I and what kind,
I trusted a boy from the hayfield,
And it wasn’t in vain at all,
Lal-lal-laa-la-la-lal-lal x 4
"R-A-K-A-S, my darling, my gold,
I said it clear and bold,
We’re getting married in the countryside,
I’m not heading back to the city side,
You’ve become so beautiful,
I don’t know how to say it better, though.
R-A-K-A-S, my darling, my gold,
I made a pointless trip there, I’m told,
Only here the pine trees smell,
And the good old moon shines well,
It’s a blessing to see
The moon in the countryside again and love freely."
2. I remember that girl so well,
I remember how we kissed,
When I was biking towards the city,
That’s when we had to part.
She stayed by the riverbank where the pine trees smell,
I’ll carry her home from there,
Kissing her until my lips swell.
I threw everything away for a woman,
I know just what kind,
You won’t find a match for her,
No matter how hard I try.

"R-A-K-A-S, my darling, my gold…"
