Hail Mary! Gentle Virgin,
Hear a virgin's plea,
From this rock, so cold and wild,
Let my prayer drift to thee.
We’ll sleep safe until the morning,
No matter how cruel men may be.
Oh Virgin, see the virgin's worries,
Oh Mother, hear a child’s plea!

When we sink down on this rock
To sleep, and your protection covers us,

The demons of earth and air,
