Mr. Good Time

I miss my childhood days
When I was still pure hope
I saw my mother coming back into our shack
With a saint's outfit under her arm
I found everything funny
But I already respected the sound of the drum
And I don't know if you know, the powerful force
In the hands of those who play a well-crafted rhythm, the saints like it
So I prepared to follow my path
Protected by my ancestors
In the past, samba rock, black power, soul
Just like hip-hop was our sound
The black vibe that played the records
The fun of the place was La Croachia
I was young and already filming the movement around me
Choreographies, I knew by heart
And I grew up surrounded by Afro-Brazilian culture
I also know I've made a lot of mistakes
But I never disconnected from my roots
I'm always with the blacks who still exist
I remember very well the sound and the marked steps
They were shown by those who understand the subject
And there were Nino Brown and Nelson Triunfo
Together with Funk and Co., how wonderful

Good times
That will never come back
Good times
That will never come back
Good times
That will never come back
Good times
That will never come back

Bell-bottom pants, cool afro hair
Shoes were moccasins or platform heels
Gerson King Combo sent messages to his people
Toni Bizarro said with reason, go with God
Tim Maia said he just wanted chocolate
Tony Tornado replied: I believe you!
Lady Zu warned, the night will come
And with Totó invented samba soul
Jorge Ben delivered with Cosa Nostra
And there was also the touch of the Originals
Big mouth gets in trouble, man
Nostalgic shack, beloved shack
It's part of the sad and happy days of our lives
Great parties at Palmeiras with Chic Show
Zimbabwe and Black Mad were Company Soul
In the 80s, I started going to some dances
I heard comments about places
City Club, Guilherme Jorge
Holmes Club, Roller Super Star
Jabaquarinha, Sasquatch, how good to remember
I thank God for allowing me
To watch Sesame Street in the 70s
In a decade full of emotion
Uri Geller bending forks on TV
10 years of swing and magic
That started with Brazil being three-time champion

Good times
That will never come back
Good times
That will never come back
Good times
That will never come back
Good times
That will never come back

Time went by, I adapted
Learning new slang, getting streetwise
Observing the radical evolution of my brothers
I realized the right we have as citizens
To give importance to the situation
Protesting so we find a solution
That's why Black Power remains alive
But in a much more offensive way
Whether dancing break, or a DJ scratching
Even doing graffiti, or singing rap
Remember Função, who with a razor in his pocket
Would strip the bus seat, a huge thrill?
And made the famous pizza on his pants
In the city center, the big galleries
Your hairdressers and record stores
Keep our tradition always alive
The music changed, the clothes changed
But the Afro youth remains very cool
I talked about the past and it's as if it wasn't
What I see is the same determination in today's Black Power hip-hop

Good times
That will never come back
Good times
That will never come back
Good times
That will never come back
Good times
That will never come back

This is our tribute
To all those who were part of or enjoyed Black Power
Luiz Carlos, Africa São Paulo, Ademir Fórmula 1
Kaskata's, Circuit Power
Bossa 1, Super Som 2000, Transa Funk, Princesa Negra
Cash Box, Musicália, Galote, Black Music
Alcir Black Power, and so many others, thank you for the inspiration

(You can believe, you can believe)
