Gramática do Mar
Thamires Tannous
Sea Grammar
Sun
Who said that the Moorish quarter is
In Lisbon
Who said that poetry likes
To be in the sun
Who said that someday the sun
Would rise here
Would live here
But it's here that it sets when the day ends
The sun wanders through the words of my language
It runs its tongue over the vowels and the sea
Keeps talking
About the ancient traditions of a people
Who were born here
Who lived here
And it's here that it falls asleep at low tide
A white horse
Dances on the desert sand
The white sand
And life is close
The grammar of the sea is learned by singing
Fados that time taught us
And life
Siren screams in the moonlight
That come from the south
That come from the sun
And that will be
Sung until the end of time
